Soup Week Cook Along — Info Update!

~~posted by Jen

I’m sure you already checked out the Downloadable Shopping List I posted earlier today and saw that the first recipe we’re making is Jen’s Chili. I usually cook the meat and onions overnight on low in the Crock Pot the night before I plan to make the chili, so I wanted to give y’all a heads-up about that.

Tonight, just before you’re ready to go to bed, get your Crock Pot out. Now cut up the 3 pounds round or chuck beef steak into 1-inch cubes (unless you found it already cut up into beef for stew at the store). Coarsely chop the large yellow onion.

Now place the meat, onion, and 1 cup leftover brewed black coffee in the Crockpot. Add 1/2 cup water, then set the Crockpot on low and let it cook overnight.

The complete recipe will be posted at 6 am EST Sunday morning, so you’ll have PLENTY of time to add the remaining ingredients and let it simmer all day until dinner time. The longer it simmers, the better it gets!

We wanted to go back over the contest with you and how this is going to work:

Every reader who cooks along and sends us a pic of the recipe(s) they make gets entered in our first ever Play With Your Food Contest!

We’re also inviting YOU to send us your favorite soup recipes. For every recipe submitted with along with a pic, we’ll post them here on Bariatric Foodie and let the readers vote on their favorite recipe. The author of the winning recipe will also win a prize from the Play With Your Food Contest!

The votes are in from last week’s Face Book Prize Poll, and it’s Protein Samples by a landslide! Each winner will receive our brand spanking new “Pouch Party™ Shake It Up Cup” which contains everything you need to make a complete protein shake except the water! Flavor choices will be announced when we announce the winners.
So there you have it, the last minute details about the Play With Your Food contest, and how to get a head start on the Cook Along! Soup’s ON!
